Certain seasons of our lives can get hectic and stressful; we can get caught up with working overtime, or taking on too many classes at school. When these things happen, it’s easy to neglect yourself and your looks. If you’ve found yourself looking in the mirror and wondering “how did I get here?” you’re in luck because we’ve got 8 ways to get closer to impeccable looks again!
1. Adequate Sleep.
It’s astonishing how much we underestimate the importance of sleep when it applies to beauty. Make sure you’re getting an adequate amount of sleep! I know this is hard to do in this day and age, but your face will thank you if you heed my advice. When we’re asleep, our bodies are in “repair mode”. We receive a boost in blood flow to our skin while we’re sleeping, and without it our complexions can look gray and dull. Anti-aging melatonin is produced at night, helping us look younger longer. Skipping out on a proper night’s rest ages the face and body significantly; it’s no wonder we have the term “beauty sleep”.
2. Good Posture.
Again, something that isn’t talked about nearly enough is good posture. Not only does good posture improve blood circulation, slouching can cause pain in your back and harm your organs. A person who has good posture is automatically more attractive and appears more confident.
3. Lip Color.
A gorgeous lip gloss or lipstick can do wonders for our looks. Combine a matte red lip with simple summer makeup, or a vampy lip with black liquid liner. You’ll look like you put the effort in to your look without actually doing so, and you’ll feel different, too!
4. Hydrate Yourself.
Our bodies are made up of mostly water, so it’s no surprise we need to hydrate ourselves to function properly! Water is crucial for cell growth, so if your hair is lacking in the growth/thickness department, now’s the time to up your water intake. As a general rule of thumb, we should be consuming at least 8 glasses of water per day. Wrinkles and pores on your face will appear bigger and more prominent if you’re dehydrated, so do your skin a favor and drink some water!
5. Use Concealer.
There’s nothing sexy about puffy, dark circles under our eyes (Rule #1 can help with that!) But another thing that helps when we absolutely cannot get a good night’s rest, is concealer. You don’t need a full face of makeup to look refreshed and beautiful. Apply some concealer under your eyes and any discolored areas, and you’ll look like you’ve spent the morning getting ready and doing your makeup.
6. Eyebrows and Grooming.
Your eyebrows frame your face. Don’t forget that! Trim the non-uniform hairs, and tweeze timely so your eyebrows are always neat. If you have areas where hair doesn’t grow, fill them in with a quality eyebrow pencil or gel for fuller eyebrows. It’ll make a huge difference in your appearance!
7. Don’t Neglect Your Nails.
Nails- they’re actually one of those things you wouldn’t think people notice much, but trust me people really notice! Keep your nails clean and tidy, push back your cuticles and use cuticle oil to keep your nails soft and chip- free. Do your manicures at home, or visit a salon for a quick 45 minute manicure and you’ll feel like a new woman!
8. Touch Up Your Hair.
There’s no hair style and color quite as popular these days as the balayage. Women are going crazy for this new style of color, and it’s understandable why. Roots are usually left alone and the hair is painted with highlights. You can have a dark, medium, or platinum blonde balayage, but the technique is the same. Hair that’s dyed and touched up makes a woman look like she cares for herself. If you think it’s hard work keeping up with your hair, try the effortless balayage.
